MAPII 2025

Effective Map-based Interfaces
and Interactions

08 or 09 September 2025
Belo Horizonte, Brazil

About the workshop

In the digital age, maps have continued to play a vital role in helping us explore the physical world and perform numerous tasks. Although most people have never been trained to understand and use maps as a form of visualization with many underlying peculiarities and subjective biases inherent in their design and representation, most map-based interfaces and interactions are assumed to be effective and usable by ordinary everyday users. The main aim of this workshop is to provide a collaborative informal venue for its participants to showcase their latest design, research, or professional work on map-based interfaces and interactions, and to share their diverse practical expertise, best practices, learnings, and experiences with others. In particular, this workshop focuses on the development of more effective maps and map-like visualizations in supporting non-expert users in performing their daily tasks.

This workshop is part of INTERACT 2025, and is supported by the IFIP TC 13 Working Group on Human-Centred Technology for Sustainability.
